Water Recreation and Boating

If you enjoy water recreation and boating then you'll love the 150 lakes in the Pocono Mountains. Lake Wallenpaupack is the third largest man-made lake located entirely in Pennsylvania and has become on of the Pocono's most treasured recreation areas. The adventurous can take to the rivers and ride the waves while white water rafting or kayaking. There are also a couple of water parks like Land of Make Believe on Rt 611, on the NJ side and another one on the PA side is Camelbeach - www.camelbeach.com/ 25 minutes away from the vacation House in the Poconos.

The House in the Poconos is surrounded by natural beauty with many beautiful parks within 10 miles, including The Delaware Water Gap Recreational Area http://www.nps.gov/dewa the Worthington State Forest and major Parks like: Promised Land promisedlandsp@state.pa.us Big Pocono State Park, Hickory Run and Tobyhanna to name a few. Additionally, there are several other parks that are a short drive from the House. Come and discover the mountains!!

There are several recreational parks with small beaches like the Delaware National Recreation Area at only 10 minutes from the house where you can do swimming, kayaking & white water rafting... the scenery is just breathtaking.

Swimming Locations in the area.

Stroudsburg Borough Pool, (10 to 15 min. drive from the house) located at 1100 W. Main St., Stroudsburg. Daily pass for residents range from $1.50 to $3.50 depending on age. Daily pass for non-residents range from $3 to $5.50 depending on age.
Dansbury Park Pool, (10 to 15 min. driving from the house) located at 24 Analomink St., East Stroudsburg, http://eastburg.org/recreation.php. Open Monday through Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 7 p.m, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m., weather permitting. Daily pass for residents $2 to $4 depending on age. Daily pass for non-residents $3 to $6 depending on age. This one is a new pool with a new splash park area and 22 foot water slide,replete with its popular water slides, lights, water features and heated water. The park includes tennis courts, basketball courts, softball, baseball, and soccer fields, skatepark and playground areas, and a large pavilion area with a new remodeled concession stand.

The Delaware River is the primary focus of recreational activity in the park with canoeing, kayaking, boating, fishing, and swimming. In addition, the recreation area offers more 100 miles of hiking trails, including more than 27 miles of the Appalachian Trail.
Also popular are biking, crosscountry skiing, horsebacking riding rock climbing, and the quieter pursuits of picnicking, eagle-watching, and autotouring the scenic countryside. These and other activities are detailed under More to Do Outdoors.
Within the park are many structures and landscapes that represent the history of the Delaware Valley. In summer, demonstrations and progams enliven the park's Historic Places to Go.
